Shadow Expert Evidence: Challenging and Defending Family Court Expert Reports

Shadow Expert Evidence: Challenging and Defending Family Court Expert Reports

Single Expert reports can have a profound influence on the outcome of family law proceedings, making them a frequent target for scrutiny and challenge. In this practical webinar, leading Queensland barrister Helen Davidson will examine the role of shadow expert evidence, the legal framework governing its use, and the circumstances in which courts may permit competing expert opinions. She will also discuss broader strategies for challenging Single Expert reports, common vulnerabilities in expert evidence, and what report writers can do to ensure their reports withstand forensic examination. The session will be valuable both for experts who prepare Family Court reports and for those who may be instructed to review or critique the work of another expert.

The Family Report Writers Network is Australia’s dedicated hub for Family Report Writers.
