Alcohol addiction and overnight unsupervised time ....

Hi everyone and thanks Clare. The page looks great.

I'm just interested in other people's comments and opinions on substance abuse and what others are recommending in regards to hair follicle test and what level alcohol should be before the consideration of any unsupervised time mainly overnights commencing now that we have some more reliable breathalyse app .

This mother is being extremely or as much as I view she is open and honest about her use. She hasn't been able to completely abstain. She understands she has a process to go through and this won't be happening straight away.

I know in the past, especially with other substances that remain in the system for a long time. I have made recommendations that it needs to be a negative result for one to 2 hair follicle test so I'm just wondering if alcohol is being viewed as different by other people.

The mother is very open to doing the testing as many times during the time as required.

The kids are really grieving the time that they had with her so it's balancing up the needs as well of them to get back to some substantial time. She is doing all of the programs and the supports and her psychological assessment although there was the risk because of the addiction was positive in every other way.

The mother  uses alcohol as a form of stress relief when traumas occur and she has had a lot of traumas occurring including the children being kidnapped at a shopping centre (True story wasn't made up) and she has been assaulted a couple of times so she's not making excuses and she knows that she needs to make the changes, she has been able to do in the past for a couple of years this latest incident triggered with the kidnapping Court case where she was a witness.

Anyway would love to have some thoughts. I haven't had an alcohol one for awhile so I'm just wondering if thoughts and views around this had changed.

Happy weekend
