Providing Peer Support, Supervision and Professional Development to Family Report Writers in Australia
Working in Family Law can be challenging and isolating.
This is important and much needed work for the families and children that we see. But it also demands that we stay connected with like minded peers, to support each other clinically, professionally and personally and to keep learning.
This group is specifically for Single Expert Witnesses who are currently providing Single Expert Reports (both full reports and Child Impact Reports) to the Family Court.
For those that are not accessing the Report Writers Network for administrative services, we offer peer supervision support on a yearly subscription basis of $499, inclusive of GST*.

His extensive expertise encompasses legal skills, subpoenas, giving evidence, report writing, psychometrics, and assessment. Dr. Watts has authored several self-help books, including "Surviving the Witness Box: Expert Opinion in Court," which offers strategies for providing credible evidence in legal settings. In his presentation to the Family Report Writers Network, titled "Technicalities of Report Writing – Learn the Ins and Outs of Forensic Report Writing Skills," Dr. Watts will delve into the critical components of crafting effective forensic reports. Drawing from his extensive experience, he will provide practical guidance on structuring reports, ensuring clarity and objectivity, and addressing common challenges faced by psychologists in forensic contexts. This session aims to enhance the report-writing skills of professionals involved in family law and related fields.

"Psychotherapy for Gender Dysphoric and Transgender Identifying Young People" July 3rd 9am Professor Dianna Kenny, formerly a Professor of Psychology and Music at The University of Sydney, is a consulting psychologist, psychotherapist, mediator, and family dispute resolution practitioner. With over three decades of experience, she has authored numerous publications, including "Gender Dysphoria in Children and Adolescents: Collected Papers on the Psychology, Sociology, and Ethics of Gender Transition," which critically examines the complexities surrounding gender dysphoria in young people. In her upcoming presentation, "Psychotherapy for Gender Dysphoric and Transgender Identifying Young People," Professor Kenny will explore therapeutic approaches aimed at understanding and addressing the underlying factors contributing to gender dysphoria. She emphasises the importance of exploratory psychotherapy to assist young individuals in navigating their gender-related distress, considering psychological, social, and developmental contexts. This session aims to provide mental health professionals with insights into supporting gender-questioning youth through evidence-based, compassionate therapeutic practices.
